Even though many legal restrictions will be lifted as Step 4 takes effect on Monday 19 July, face covering and social distancing requirements will continue in healthcare settings. This will provide additional safety for the most vulnerable people when they attend the Medical Centre, hospitals, pharmacies and other healthcare providers for advice, care and treatment. Please ensure you continue to use a face covering and maintain social distancing when visiting the Medical Centre.
We are confident that this website will provide clear and concise help and give our patients the information they require in an easy and convenient format. It has been designed with the patient’s needs at the forefront of everything, from checking surgery times to letting us know what you think of us.
Our dedicated team are here to treat those minor ailments that occur as well as providing specialist management of long-term conditions and clinics covering a wide range of healthcare issues. The technology also means you can now do a lot of things from the comfort of your home such as order a repeat prescription or cancel an appointment.
Partners in Care
Once registered, patients and healthcare professionals work together to ensure the most appropriate care is provided. This partnership philosophy extends even further and our active patient group exists to make sure that patient needs and the practice offering are always heading in the same direction.

The Medical Centre is as disability accessible as possible within the constraints of the current building - there is level access and a disabled toilet. Our reception has a hearing loop and patient information is available in accessible forms.
Primary Care Network
To provide a framework where an increased range of services can be offered at a local level, GP practices are now working together as Primary Care Networks. Shawbirch Medical Centre is part of the Newport/Central Primary Care Network working with the Donnington Medical Practice and the two practices in Newport - Linden Hall and Wellington Road. The PCN's website is located at newportandcentralpcn.gpweb.org.uk/
